Short Story Pro Market 2017 ‘End of Summer Sale’
I am bringing you word of a big sale on Short Story Pro Market 2017. It is my “End of Summer” sale. Many short form markets open up for a fourth quarter submission period in early to mid-autumn, which makes August a great time for a book sale. This book in particular because it lists over 150 professional paying short form publishers. There’s something inside for everyone: short stories, flash fiction, poetry, interviews, articles, nonfiction, games, art, etc. You will find nearly every genre you’re looking for: science fiction, fantasy, horror, romance, mystery, children’s, historical, travel, outdoor, etc. And did you catch the phrase “professional paying?” Yes indeed, the publishers listed inside pay top dollar in the industry for the pieces they publish. That means if you are accepted for publication, you will be paid more than just pennies and free copies. Food for thought, eh? Continue reading “Big Book Sale”
Short Story Pro Market 2017 seems to have been accepted in the writing and publishing community.
The end of July marked four months since the first edition of Short Story Pro Market was published. It has only been on the market for four months, but it’s already gained a firm hold in the writing and publishing community. It is rated 4.9/5 stars on Amazon and Goodreads with a total of 25 reviews on Amazon and 30 on Goodreads. Maybe those aren’t the huge numbers you see for certain fiction books, but it is still a strong start and a high rating. I am very grateful for every single one of those reviews and even more grateful for those who tried to book and left their thoughts on the sites. Reviews for any author are extremely important and they help future readers discover the book. (I have never paid for reviews.) Continue reading “Ratings & Reviews”
Here is a list of books that I will attempt to get through before the end of the year. I mostly listen to audio books so I will try my best to get to all of these. I will update the list every few weeks with a cross through the ones I’ve finished. I may also add more books and if I do so, I will add some sort of indicator that it is new. Since I listen to a ton of audio books a year (64 last year), I should be able to get through these with no problem and maybe a few more. Continue reading “2017 Remaining Book List”
This is an article that I am reblogging and sharing around the vast webs because it is vitally important for self published/indie published authors. There are scam authors reaching top Amazon bestseller lists by fraudulent acts. This is stripping legitimate honest and hard working authors of royalties they should be earning instead. I would ask all of you who read it to share and spread the word. All helps in this fight against the shady side of certain Amazon algorithms. Maybe even just Amazon in general.
I’m preparing to rework the first draft of my newest short story and I’ve decided to try something a little different. I’m going to use a loose plot structure on my story. This is new to me because I’ve never used a set plotting structure or formula for a short story. It’s not needed, but when I saw this one I decided it actually makes sense, so I’ll give it a go. Below is a screenshot of the basic idea so you can try it too, if you want. Continue reading “Plotting a Short Story”
